(B) PENALTY.

A PERSON WHO VIOLATES THIS SECTION IS GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND
ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE NOT EXCEEDING $100 FOR EACH VIOLATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 48, § 117.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former date "September 1, 1971" is
deleted as obsolete.

SUBTITLE 8. ELEVATOR SAFETY.

PART I. DEFINITIONS.
12-801. DEFINITIONS.

(A)     IN GENERAL.

IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS INDICATED.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived without
substantive change from former Art. 89, § 49C(a)(1) and the introductory
phrase of § 49B(b).

It is restated in the standard language used as introductory language to a
definition section.

The reference to this "subtitle" is substituted for the former reference in
former § 49C to this "section" to extend the applicability of the definitions
not only to Part III of this subtitle, which revises former § 49C, but to the
entire subtitle. No substantive change is intended.

(B)     BOARD.

"BOARD" MEANS THE ELEVATOR SAFETY REVIEW BOARD.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 89, § 490(a)(2).

No changes are made.
Defined term: "Elevator" § 12-801

(C)     CERTIFICATE.

"CERTIFICATE" MEANS A CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION AND INSPECTION
ISSUED BY THE COMMISSIONER TO OPERATE AN ELEVATOR UNIT.
