House Bill No. 82

AN ACT concerning

Job-Related Substance Abuse Testing - Specimens - Definition

FOR the purpose of adding saliva derived from the human body to the list of
specimens that may be used for job-related substance abuse testing; and
generally relating to the definition for specimens used for job-related substance
abuse testing.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Health - General
Section 17-214(a)(10)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2000 Replacement Volume and 2002 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health - General

17-214.

(a) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.

(10) "Specimen" means:

(i) Blood derived from the human body;

(ii) Urine derived from the human body; [or]

(iii) Hair derived from the human body as provided in subsection
(b)(2) of this section; OR

(IV) SALIVA DERIVED FROM THE HUMAN BODY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2003.
