SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 6-101 through 6-702, inclusive, and the title "Title 6.
Electrologists" of Article - Health Occupations of the Annotated Code of Maryland be
repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of Maryland
read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

SUBTITLE 6B. ELECTROLOGISTS.
8-6B-01.

(A)     IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE MEANINGS
INDICATED.

(B)     "BOARD" MEANS THE STATE BOARD OF NURSING.

(C)     "COMMITTEE" MEANS THE ELECTROLOGY PRACTICE COMMITTEE.

(D)     "ELECTROLOGIST" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO PRACTICES
ELECTROLOGY.

(E)     "ELECTROLOGY INSTRUCTOR" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO PRACTICES
ELECTROLOGY AND TEACHES AN ELECTROLOGY EDUCATION PROGRAM.

(F)     "LICENSE" MEANS, UNLESS THE CONTEXT REQUIRES OTHERWISE, A
LICENSE ISSUED BY THE BOARD:

(1)      TO PRACTICE ELECTROLOGY; OR

(2)      TO PRACTICE ELECTROLOGY AND TEACH AN ELECTROLOGY
EDUCATION PROGRAM.

(G)     "LICENSED ELECTROLOGIST" MEANS, UNLESS THE CONTEXT REQUIRES
OTHERWISE, AN ELECTROLOGIST WHO IS LICENSED BY THE BOARD TO PRACTICE
ELECTROLOGY.

(H) "LICENSED ELECTROLOGY INSTRUCTOR" MEANS, UNLESS THE CONTEXT
REQUIRES OTHERWISE, AN ELECTROLOGIST WHO IS LICENSED BY THE BOARD TO
PRACTICE ELECTROLOGY AND TEACH AN ELECTROLOGY EDUCATION PROGRAM.

(I) "PRACTICE ELECTROLOGY' MEANS TO REMOVE HAIR PERMANENTLY
THROUGH THE USE OF ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS.

THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT LIMIT THE RIGHT OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO PRACTICE A
HEALTH OCCUPATION THAT THE INDIVIDUAL IS AUTHORIZED TO PRACTICE UNDER
THIS ARTICLE.
