effect October 1, 2003.

(House Bill 722)

AN ACT concerning

Environment - Report by Local Government Agency - Noncompliance with

Lead Risk Reduction Provisions

FOR the purpose of requiring a local government agency to report to the Department
of the Environment any known noncompliance of a certain property with certain
lead risk reduction in housing provisions; and generally relating to reporting by
a local government agency to the Department of the Environment.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
Article - Environment

Section 1-101(a) and (d) and 6-801(a) and (b)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1996 Replacement Volume and 2002 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article - Environment

Section 6-848.1

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1996 Replacement Volume and 2002 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Environment

1-101.

(a)     In this article the following words have the meanings indicated.

(d)    "Department" means the Department of the Environment.
6-801.

(a)     In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     (1) "Affected property" means:

(i) A property constructed before 1950 that contains at least one
rental dwelling unit; or
