[(9)] (10) one trustee who represents the interests of participating
governmental units in the Employees' Pension System and the Employees'
Retirement System; and
[(10)] (11) two trustees who:
(i) represent the interests of the public;
(ii) are not members of any of the several systems; and
(iii) are knowledgeable in the administration and operation of
pension systems and trust funds.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Board of Trustees for
the State Retirement and Pension System shall schedule the election of the new
trustee as soon as possible. In order to meet the member to retiree ratio described in
Section 1 of this Act, the new trustee should be either a retiree or a member of the
Teachers' Pension System or the Teachers' Retirement System, depending on the
Board's membership at the time of the election.
SECTION 3. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October July 1, 2003.

AN ACT concerning
Maryland Health Care Commission - Evaluation of Mandated Health
Insurance Services
FOR the purpose of repealing the duty of the Maryland Health Care Commission to
make a certain evaluation and file a certain report under certain circumstances;
requiring the Commission to conduct an evaluation of existing mandated health
insurance services and make certain recommendations to the General Assembly;
requiring the evaluation to include certain assessments and a certain
comparison of certain mandated health insurance services; requiring the
Commission to submit a certain report to the General Assembly on or before a
certain date and every 4 years thereafter; and generally relating to the
evaluation of mandated health insurance services by the Maryland Health Care
Commission.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
