Ch. 371                                    2003 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(2) FOR A SECOND OR SUBSEQUENT VIOLATION, SHALL SUSPEND THE
INDIVIDUAL'S LICENSE FOR 30 DAYS.

(B) SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF TITLE 12, SUBTITLE 2 OF THIS ARTICLE,
A LICENSEE MAY REQUEST A HEARING ON A SUSPENSION UNDER THIS SECTION.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2003.

AN ACT concerning

Consumer Protection - Maryland Consumer Protection Act - Scope Private

Rights of Action

FOR the purpose of altering the scope of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act to
exclude certain private rights of action concerning the professional services of
certain health care providers; and generally relating to the Maryland Consumer
Protection Act.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, adding to
Article - Commercial Law
Section 13-104 13-408(d)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2000 Replacement Volume and 2002 Supplement)

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,
Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 3-2A-01(a) and (e)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(2002 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Commercial Law

13-104.

This title does not apply to:

(1) The professional services of a certified public accountant, architect,
clergyman, professional engineer, lawyer, veterinarian, insurance company
authorized to do business in the State, insurance producer licenced by the State,
Christian Science practitioner, land surveyor, property line surveyor, chiropractor,
