ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor

Ch. 5

(I)   THE NUMBER AND VARIETY OF MODELS AND CALIBERS OF
PERSONALIZED HANDGUNS THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR SALE;

(II)  EACH STUDY, ANALYSIS, OR OTHER EVALUATION OF
PERSONALIZED HANDGUNS CONDUCTED OR COMMISSIONED BY:

1.   THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF JUSTICE;

2.   A FEDERAL, STATE, OR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

LABORATORY; OR

TECHNOLOGY; AND

ANY OTHER ENTITY WITH AN EXPERTISE IN HANDGUN

(III) ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT THE HANDGUN ROSTER
BOARD CONSIDERS RELEVANT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 27, § 442C.

In subsection (a)(2) of this section, the conjunction "or" is substituted for
the former conjunction "and" because the phrases "the owner of a
handgun" and "a person authorized by the owner" represent alternatives in
the definition.

In subsection (b)(1), (3), and (4) of this section, the reference to "federally"
licensed gun dealer or manufacturer is added to clarify that the federal
government licenses gun dealers and manufacturers.

In subsection (b)(1)(i) of this section, the reference to personnel "of any unit
of the federal government" is substituted for the former reference to
personnel "of the United States government or any agency or department
of the United States" for brevity.

In subsection (b)(1)(iii) of this section, the reference to personnel acting
within the scope of their official "duties" is substituted for the former
reference to their official "business" to conform to the terminology used
throughout this title.

In subsection (b)(1)(iv) of this section, the former reference to federal
"regulations" is deleted as included in the reference to federal "law".

In subsection (d)(1) of this section, the former phrase "beginning on or
before July 1, 2002" is deleted as obsolete.

Defined terms: "Antique firearm" § 5-101
"Dealer" § 5-101
"Firearm" § 5-101
"Handgun" § 5-101
"Licensee" § 5-101
"Person" § 1-101
