(b) (1) The Charles County Commissioners shall provide that the Director of
the Charles County Health Department and the Office of the Sheriff for Charles
County has the authority to carry out the provisions of the ordinances or regulations
adopted under subsection (a) of this section.
(2) THE WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL PROVIDE THAT
THE WASHINGTON COUNTY HEALTH OFFICER AND THE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF FOR
WASHINGTON COUNTY HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF
THE ORDINANCES OR REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS
SECTION.
SECTION 2, AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2003.

AN ACT concerning
Pharmacists and Pharmacies - Practice - Advice of Information on Generic
Drug Option
FOR the purpose of requiring an employee of a pharmacy or a pharmacist, or the
pharmacist's designee, who is under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, to
advise inform retail consumers of generically equivalent drugs; requiring an
employee of a pharmacy or a pharmacist to advise inform retail consumers of the
approximate cost difference of generically equivalent drugs as compared to
brand name drugs; requiring the Board to adopt procedures to assure
compliance with this Act; providing for certain exceptions to the requirements of
this Act; and generally relating to providing information on generic drug
options.

(a) In this section, "brand name" means the proprietary name a manufacturer
places on a drug or device product or its container.
