Ch. 280

2003 LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 5 - Calvert County

9-403.

(A)     The board consists of 7 members, of whom:

(1)     2 shall be appointed by the County Commissioners;

(2)      1 shall be appointed by the Legislative Delegation from the 29th
Legislative District;

(3)     1 shall be appointed by the Calvert County Democratic Central
Committee;

(4)     1 shall be appointed by the Calvert County Republican Central
Committee;

(5)     1 shall be appointed by the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce;
and

(6)     1 shall be appointed by the Calvert County Economic Development
Commission.

(B)  AT LEAST 1 MEMBER OF THE BOARD SHALL HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF THE
PREVIOUS BOARD.

9-405.

(a) By December [1, 1988,] 1 OF A YEAR WHICH IMMEDIATELY PRECEDES A
YEAR IN WHICH THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ARE ELECTED, the board shall:

(1)     Review the salaries set by law for Calvert County officials;

(2)     Review State and local laws and the procedures following in Calvert
County concerning the inclusion of benefits as part of the compensation of the County
Commissioners;

(3)     Make recommendations to the County Commissioners concerning the
compensation set by law for county officials; and

(4)     Make a special recommendation concerning the inclusion of benefits
as part of the compensation of County Commissioners.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of any officer or official of Calvert County in office
on the effective date of this Act, but if any changes are recommended by the
Compensation Review Board concerning the compensation of the officer or officers of
Calvert County, those changes shall take effect at the beginning of the next following
term of office.
