The reference to the "oath required by Article I, § 9 of the Maryland
Constitution" is substituted for the former reference to an "oath of office"
for specificity and to conform to language used in similar provisions in
other revised articles of the Code.

The reference to the clerk of the "circuit" court where the appointment is
received is substituted for the former reference to the clerk of the court in
the "jurisdiction" for specificity.

The reference to an "appointment" being received is substituted for the
former reference to the "commission" for clarity and consistency with
terminology used throughout this subtitle.

3-409. BADGES AND IDENTIFICATION CARDS.

(A)     BADGES.

EACH RAILROAD POLICE OFFICER WHO IS IN UNIFORM AND ON DUTY SHALL
WEAR IN PLAIN VIEW A BADGE THAT IDENTIFIES THE RAILROAD COMPANY THAT
EMPLOYS THE RAILROAD POLICE OFFICER

(B)   " IDENTIFICATION CARDS.

EACH RAILROAD POLICE OFFICER SHALL CARRY AN IDENTIFICATION CARD
ISSUED BY THE RAILROAD COMPANY THAT EMPLOYS THE RAILROAD POLICE
OFFICER

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 23, § 262.

In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to the "railroad company
that employs the railroad police officer" is substituted for the former
phrase "appointing railroad employer" for consistency with terminology
used throughout this subtitle, as the Governor appoints railroad police
officers. Similarly, in subsection (b) of this section, the reference to the
"railroad company that employs the railroad police officer" is substituted
for the former phrase "appointing railroad".

3-410. COMPENSATION.

EACH RAILROAD POLICE OFFICER SHALL RECEIVE COMPENSATION FROM THE
RAILROAD COMPANY THAT EMPLOYS THE RAILROAD POLICE OFFICER
