ROBERT L. EHRLICH, JR., Governor                             Ch. 137

(a)     The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene shall adopt and implement
the procedures required by this Act on or before January 1, 2004; and

(b)     On or before October 1, 2005, the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene shall report to the Governor, and in accordance with § 2-1246 of the State
Government Article, to the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs
Committee and the House Health and Government Operations Committee, on the
implementation of this Act, including the number of certificates of births resulting in
stillbirth issued in the State and the procedures implemented by the Department.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2003 June 1, 2003.

(House Bill 276)

AN ACT concerning

Allegany County - Education - Transportation of Students

FOR the purpose of repealing the limitations on the transportation of certain
students by school bus in Allegany County; and generally relating to the
transportation of students in Allegany County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 7-801

Annotated Code of Maryland
(2001 Replacement Volume and 2002 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

7-801.

(a)     (1) In this section the following words have the meanings indicated.

(2)     "Nonpublic school" means an elementary or secondary school in
Calvert County that does not receive State aid.

(3)     "Public school bus" includes any other conveyance used to transport
students to a public school.

(b)     (1) At its own expense, a county governing body may provide
transportation for public school students in addition to the transportation provided by
the State.
