Ch. 134

2003 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(1)     Submit an application to the Board on the form that the Board
requires; and

(2)     Pay to the Board the application fee set by the Board.

(B) IF THE APPLICANT IS LICENSED AND HAS PRACTICED IN ANOTHER STATE,
THE APPLICANT SHALL:

(1) SUBMIT PROOF OF PRACTICE FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS IMMEDIATELY
BEFORE APPLYING
THAT IS SUFFICIENT TO DEMONSTRATE CURRENT CLINICAL
PROFICIENCY, AS SPECIFIED IN REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD; AND

(2) SUBMIT CERTIFIED COPIES OF THE FINAL RESOLUTION OF ANY
MALPRACTICE SUIT OR CLAIM FOR DAMAGES THAT HAS BEEN SETTLED AGAINST
THE APPLICANT
.

(a)     (1) Subject to the provisions of this subsection, the Board shall waive the
examination requirements of this subtitle for an applicant who is certified or licensed
to practice podiatry in any other state.

(2)     The Board may grant a waiver under this subsection only if the
applicant:

(i) Is of good moral character;

(ii) Pays the application fee set by the Board; and

(iii) Provides adequate evidence that the applicant:

1.       Is licensed in the other state;

2.       Became licensed in the other state under requirements
substantially equivalent to the requirements of this title; and

3.       Practiced podiatry in the other state for at least 5 years
immediately before applying for a license in this State.

(3)     The Board may grant a waiver under this subsection only if:

(i) The state in which the applicant is licensed waives the
examination of licensees of this State to a similar extent as this State waives the
examination of individuals licensed in that state; and

(ii) The applicant has not previously failed the examination
required by this State.

(b)     The Board may waive the written examination requirement of this subtitle
for an applicant who has passed the examination given by the National Board of
Podiatry Examiners.]
