SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1999. It shall remain effective for a period of [1 year and 7] 2 YEARS AND
7 months and, at the end of April 30, [2001] 2002, and with no further action required
by the General Assembly, this Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and
effect.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2000.

(House Bill 558)
AN ACT concerning
Licensure of Physicians - Qualifications - Postgraduate Training
FOR the purpose of requiring certain applicants for a license to practice medicine to
complete a certain number of years of certain postgraduate medical training;
exempting certain foreign medical school graduates from certain educational
requirements if the foreign graduates complete a certain number of years of
certain postgraduate medical training; repealing certain provisions of law that
relate to certain graduates from foreign medical schools; and generally relating
to certain qualifications for medical licensure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Health Occupations
14-307.
(a) To qualify for a license, an applicant shall be an individual who meets the
requirements of this section.
(b) The applicant shall be of good moral character.
(c) The applicant shall be at least 18 years old.
(d) Except as provided in § 14-308 of this subtitle, the applicant shall:
