Article - Business Regulation
17-2106.
(a) Except as otherwise specifically provided in this title, a person who
violates this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, is subject to a fine
not exceeding [$100] $300 or imprisonment not exceeding 30 days.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 2000.

AN ACT concerning
Comptroller - Issuance of Cigarette Licenses
FOR the purpose of requiring the Comptroller to investigate applications for certain
licenses issued or renewed by the Comptroller; requiring that certain licences be
denied under certain circumstances; expanding the circumstances under which
the Comptroller may deny a license to any applicant, reprimand a licensee, or
suspend or revoke a license; requiring the Comptroller to grant a waiver from
certain provisions of this Act to certain persons under certain circumstances;
and generally relating to the powers of the Comptroller to issue business
licenses,
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

16-205.
(a) [The] SUBJECT TO SUBSECTION (B) OF THIS SECTION, THE Comptroller
shall issue an appropriate license to each applicant who meets the requirements of
this subtitle for a license to act as a manufacturer, storage warehouse, subwholesaler,
vending machine operator, or wholesaler.
(B) (1) PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF ANY LICENSE, THE COMPTROLLER
SHALL CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION WITH REGARD TO:
