May 18, 2000 The Honorable Casper R. Taylor, Jr.
Speaker of the House
State House
Annapolis MD 21401 Dear Mr. Speaker: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 725 - Baltimore City - Local Government Tort Claims Act -
Lexington Market, Incorporated. This bill provides that Lexington Market, Incorporated in Baltimore City meets the
definition of local government for the purposes of the Local Government Tort Claims
Act. Lexington Market and its employees may not raise as a defense a specified
statutory limitation on the liability of an agent of an association or organization. Senate Bill 715, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me today,
accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 725. Sincerely, Parris N. Glendening
Governor House Bill No. 725 AN ACT concerning Baltimore City - Local Government Tort Claims Act - Nonprofit
