SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect

Annapolis MD 21401 Dear Mr. Speaker: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 580 - State Athletic Commission - Sunset Extension and Program
Evaluation. This bill extends the sunset date for the State Athletic Commission to July 1, 2011. Senate Bill 363, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on
April 25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me
to sign House Bill 580. Sincerely, Parris N. Glendening
Governor House Bill No. 580 AN ACT concerning State Athletic Commission - Sunset Extension and Program Evaluation FOR the purpose of continuing the State Athletic Commission in accordance with the
provisions of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act (Sunset Law) by extending
to a certain date the termination provisions relating to the statutory and
regulatory authority of the Commission; requiring that an evaluation of the
Commission and the statutes and regulations that relate to the Commission be
performed on or before a certain date; requiring the Commission to submit a
certain report by a certain date; and generally relating to the State Athletic
Commission. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
