Dear Mr. Speaker:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 574 - State Collection Agency Licensing Board - Sunset Extension.
This bill extends the sunset date for the State Collection Agency Licensing Board
from July 1, 2002 to July 1, 2012.
Senate Bill 575, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on
April 25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me
to sign House Bill 574.

AN ACT concerning
State Collection Agency Licensing Board - Sunset Extension
FOR the purpose of continuing the State Collection Agency Licensing Board in
accordance with the provisions of the Maryland Program Evaluation Act (Sunset
Law) by extending to a certain date the termination provisions relating to the
statutory and regulatory authority of the Board; and generally relating to the
State Collection Agency Licensing Board.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 7-502

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Business Regulation
7-502.
Subject to the evaluation and reestablishment provisions of the Maryland
Program Evaluation Act, this title and all regulations adopted under this title shall
terminate on July 1, [2002] 2012.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2000.
