The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 343 - Anne Arundel County - Sheriffs Salary - Equal to Captain
of the Police Department.
This bill increases the salary of the Sheriff of Anne Arundel County to the highest rate
in the pay scale for a captain in the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
House Bill 302, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May
11, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign
Senate Bill 343.
Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor
Senate Bill No. 343

the salary of a captain in the Anne Arundel County Police Department at a
certain rate in the pay scale; providing that this Act does not apply to the salary

and generally relating to the Anne Arundel County Sheriff's salary.
