Annapolis MD 21401 Dear Mr. President: In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 299 - Maryland Veterans Commission - Membership. This bill adds a member of the Maryland Coalition of the Retired Enlisted Association
to the Maryland Veterans Commission. House Bill 518, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April
25, 2000, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign

AN ACT concerning Maryland Veterans Commission - Membership FOR the purpose of adding a representative from the Maryland Coalition of the
Retired Enlisted Association to the Maryland Veterans Commission; and
generally relating to the Maryland Veterans Commission. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - State Government
Section 9-907 Annotated Code of Maryland
(1999 Replacement Volume) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - State Government 9-907. (a) (1) The Commission consists of the following [28] 29 members: (i) as an ex officio member, the Chairman of the Maryland
Veterans' Home Commission; and (ii) [27] 28 members appointed by the Governor.
(2) Of the [27] 28 appointed members:
