(B) AN ORGANIZATION THAT IS AWARDED A GRANT BY THE STATE BOARD
UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL USE THE GRANT TO:
(1) PURCHASE BOOKS TO BE DISTRIBUTED AT WELL CHILD VISITS IN
THE HEALTH CARE SETTING; AND
(2) TRAIN PEDIATRICIANS AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS ON
METHODS OF PROMOTING LITERACY TO ALL MARYLAND CHILDREN.
(C) IN FISCAL YEAR 2001 AND EVERY FISCAL YEAR THEREAFTER, THE
GOVERNOR SHALL INCLUDE FUNDS IN THE STATE BUDGET TO IMPLEMENT THIS
SECTION.
(D) THE STATE BOARD MAY ADOPT REGULATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THIS
SECTION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 2000.

(House Bill 1183)
AN ACT concerning
South Mountain Battlefield
FOR the purpose of establishing a Civil War State Battlefield at South Mountain;
requiring the Department of Natural Resources to manage the Battlefield;
authorizing the Department to adopt regulations concerning the Battlefield and
set and charge fees based upon approximate costs to cover the cost of operating
the Battlefield; providing that any excess revenue is to be remitted to the State
general fund; requiring the Governor to appropriate certain funds for the
purposes of this Act under certain circumstances; and generally relating to
establishing a Civil War State Battlefield at South Mountain.

Section 5-1801 to be under the new subtitle "Subtitle 18. South Mountain
Battlefield"
