contributions. The fund may consist of funds expended prior to the effective date of
this Act. In case of any dispute as to the amount of the matching fund or what money
or assets may qualify as matching funds, the Board of Public Works shall determine
the matter and the Board's decision is final. The grantee has until June 1, 2002, to
present evidence satisfactory to the Board of Public Works that a matching fund will
be provided. If satisfactory evidence is presented, the Board shall certify this fact and
the amount of the matching fund to the State Treasurer, and the proceeds of the loan
equal to the amount of the matching fund shall be expended for the purposes provided
in this Act. Any amount of the loan in excess of the amount of the matching fund
certified by the Board of Public Works shall be canceled and be of no further effect.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 2000.

Education - Grants for Transportation Services for Public School Students
FOR the purpose of making certain adjustments to the formula for transportation
grants to county boards of education; adjusting the time period for calculating
increases in the grant amounts; and generally relating to the computation of the
grants to provide transportation services to public school students.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Education
5-205.
(a) For fiscal year 1993, grants in the following amounts shall be distributed
to the county boards to provide transportation services for public school students and
handicapped children for whom transportation is to be provided under § 8-410 of this
article. Appropriations for student transportation shall be budgeted in a separate
budget category as provided in § 5-101 of this article. If the amount that is
appropriated to a county under this section in a fiscal year is more than the actual
cost of providing student transportation services in that county, a county board or the
