18-303.
(a) [Except for an economic development student assistance grant awarded
under § 18-701 of this title, a Distinguished Scholar Award under § 18-1101 of this
title, and a Maryland Science and Technology Scholarship awarded under § 18-2001
of this title, the] THE recipient of an Educational Excellence Award may not hold any
other scholarship awarded under this title EXCEPT FOR:
(1) AN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STUDENT ASSISTANCE GRANT
AWARDED UNDER § 18-701 OF THIS TITLE;
(2) A DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR AWARDED UNDER § 18-1101 OF THIS
TITLE;
(3) A MARYLAND SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED
UNDER § 18-2001 OF THIS TITLE; AND
(4) A MARYLAND TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED UNDER § 18-2202 OF
THIS TITLE; AND
(5) A MARYLAND HOPE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED UNDER § 18-2302 OF
THIS TITLE.
18-2202.
There is a program of Maryland teacher scholarships that are awarded under
this subtitle for students who pledge to work as public elementary and secondary
school teachers in this State upon completion of their studies.
18-2205.
The annual scholarship award shall be in the amount of [$1,000] $2,000 for a
student enrolled at a 2-year eligible institution or [$3,000] $5,000 for a student
enrolled in a 4-year eligible institution.
18-2208.
Except for a Distinguished Scholar Award under § 18-1101 of this article OR AN
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE AWARD UNDER § 18-301 OF THIS ARTICLE TITLE OR A
DISTINGUISHED SCHOLAR AWARD UNDER § 18-1101 OF THIS TITLE, the recipient of a
Maryland teacher scholarship may not hold any other scholarship awarded under this
title.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2000.
