(e) If a special district subject to subsection (b) or (d) of this section does not
submit a financial report or audit report as required by the county, the county may
withhold the distributions of taxes imposed on behalf of the special district until the
financial report and/or audit report is received. (f) At the time it forwards its audit report to the Legislative Auditor, the
county also shall forward copies of all audit reports and financial reports received
from the special districts subject to subsection (b) or (d) of this section, together with
a separate report to the Legislative Auditor on the results of the county's review of
each district's compliance with the provisions of subsections (b) through (e) of this
section. The Legislative Auditor shall review the audit reports and information
received from the county and submit recommendations as appropriate based on the
results of the review. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the provisions of this Act
shall apply to all fiscal years starting on and after July 1, 2000. SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2000. Approved May 11, 2000.
CHAPTER 464
(House Bill 1208) AN ACT concerning Economic Development - Enterprise Zones FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Business and Economic
Development to give funding preference to business projects located in a focus
area
consider whether a business project is located in a focus area or an
enterprise zone when making certain funding decisions; requiring designated
enterprise zones to be located in designated priority funding areas that are
designated as priority funding areas or meet an exception; establishing a Task
Force to Study the Maryland Enterprise Zone Program; providing for the
membership, duties, and staffing of the Task Force; requiring the Task Force to
issue a report by a certain date; providing for the effective date and the
termination of certain provisions of this Act; and generally relating to enterprise
zones. BY adding to Article 83A - Department of Business and Economic Development
Section 5-105 Annotated Code of Maryland (1998 Replacement Volume and 1999 Supplement)
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
