Ch. 379 2000 LAWS OF MARYLAND
Section 2-309(g)
Annotated Code of Maryland (1998 Replacement Volume and 1999 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings 2-309. (g) (1) The Sheriff of Caroline County shall receive an annual salary of
[$45,000 in 1995 and in each subsequent year] $49,500. (2) The Sheriff may appoint deputy sheriffs and other personnel in
accordance with the County budget. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Caroline County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Caroline County shall take effect at the beginning of
the next following term of office. SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2002. Approved May 11, 2000.
CHAPTER 379
(House Bill 450) AN ACT concerning Creation of a State Debt - Baltimore City - New Song Community Center FOR the purpose of authorizing the creation of a State Debt not to exceed $1,500,000

$300,000, the proceeds to be used as a grant to the Board of Trustees of
New Song Urban Ministries, Inc. for certain development or improvement
purposes; providing for disbursement of the loan proceeds, subject to a
requirement that the grantee provide and expend a matching fund; prohibiting
the use of the proceeds of the loan or any of the matching fund for religious
purposes; and providing generally for the issuance and sale of bonds evidencing
the loan. SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That: (1) The Board of Public Works may borrow money and incur indebtedness on
behalf of the State of Maryland through a State loan to be known as the Baltimore
- 2128 -
