SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows: Article 33 - Election Code 2-204. (a) Each regular member of a local board shall receive the salary and
reimbursement of expenses provided in the county budget, but in no event may the
annual compensation be less than the following amounts: (3) In Baltimore City, [$8,000] $11,000 FOR THE PRESIDENT AND $10,000
FOR OTHER REGULAR MEMBERS; (b) (1) Consistent with paragraph (2) of this subsection, each substitute
member shall be compensated for each day of service as provided in the county
budget. (2) (i) Except as provided in subparagraph (ii) of this paragraph, a
substitute member shall be compensated at a rate of at least $25 for each meeting of
the board that the substitute member attends. (ii) 1. IN BALTIMORE CITY, A SUBSTITUTE MEMBER SHALL BE
PAID $150 FOR EACH MEETING THAT THE SUBSTITUTE MEMBER ATTENDS. 2. In Calvert County, a substitute member shall be paid at
least $50 for each meeting that the substitute member attends. [2.] 3. In Garrett County, a substitute member shall be paid $600 annually. [3.] 4. In Kent County, a substitute member shall be paid at
least $50 for each meeting that the substitute member attends. [4.] 5. In Wicomico County, a substitute member shall be paid $1,200 annually.
10-205. (b) (2) In Baltimore City, the compensation for each election day actually
served shall be: (i) [$125] $150 per day for each chief election judge; and (ii) [$100] $125 per day for every other election judge. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the regular and substitute members of the
Baltimore City Board of Elections or Baltimore City election judges in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the regular and substitute members of the Baltimore City Board of
Elections and Baltimore City election judges shall take effect at the beginning of the
next following term of office.
