In subsection (d) of this section, the term "contract" is substituted for the
former phrase "contractual agreement" for consistency with subsection (c)
of this section.

Also in subsection (d) of this section, the reference to an inmate being
sentenced to the "jurisdiction of the Division" of Correction is substituted
for the former reference to an inmate being sentenced to the
"Commissioner" of Correction for consistency with § 9-103 of this article.

11-107. APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS.

AN AGREEMENT, CONTRACT, OR OTHER INSTRUMENT APPROVED BY THE
SECRETARY SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
BEFORE FINAL EXECUTION.

11-201. SAFEKEEPING OF INMATES.

(A) DUTIES OF SHERIFF — GENERALLY

(1) THE SHERIFF OF A COUNTY SHALL KEEP SAFELY EACH INDIVIDUAL
COMMITTED BY LAWFUL AUTHORITY TO THE CUSTODY OF THE SHERIFF UNTIL THE
INDIVIDUAL IS DISCHARGED BY DUE COURSE OF LAW.

(2) (I) THE SHERIFF SHALL RECEIVE AND KEEP SAFELY IN A LOCAL
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY EACH INDIVIDUAL COMMITTED TO THE CUSTODY OF THE
SHERIFF UNDER AUTHORITY OF THE UNITED STATES UNTIL THE INDIVIDUAL IS
DISCHARGED BY DUE COURSE OF LAW.

(II) AN INDIVIDUAL COMMITTED TO THE CUSTODY OF THE
SHERIFF UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE UNITED STATES SHALL BE KEPT IN THE
SAME MANNER AND BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME PENALTIES AS AN INDIVIDUAL
COMMITTED TO THE CUSTODY OF THE SHERIFF UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE
STATE.

(III) FOR KEEPING AND SUPPORTING AN INDIVIDUAL COMMITTED
TO THE CUSTODY OF THE SHERIFF UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE UNITED STATES,
A SHERIFF IS ENTITLED TO RECEIVE 30 CENTS PER DAY TO BE PAID BY THE UNITED
STATES.
