REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to avoid repetition of the
full name of the Inmate Grievance Office.

10-202. ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS AN INMATE GRIEVANCE OFFICE IN THE DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 41, § 4-102.1(a).

This section is revised using standard language for the creation of a unit of
State government.

The former phrase "as a separate agency" is deleted as surplusage.
Defined term: "Department" § 1-101
10-203. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND EMPLOYEES.

(A) EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

(1) WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE GOVERNOR, THE SECRETARY SHALL
APPOINT AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE.

(2) THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE
SECRETARY.

(3) THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS ENTITLED TO THE COMPENSATION
PROVIDED IN THE STATE BUDGET.

(B) EMPLOYEES.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE BUDGET, THE SECRETARY MAY PROVIDE
THE OFFICE WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE, SECRETARIAL, AND CLERICAL EMPLOYEES
NECESSARY FOR THE EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATION OF THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF
THE OFFICE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 41, § 4-102.1(b).

In subsection (a)(3) of this section, the reference to "compensation" is
substituted for the former reference to "salary" for consistency throughout
this article. See General Revisor's Note to this article.

10-204. REGULATIONS.

SUBJECT TO THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY, THE OFFICE MAY ADOPT
REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE CONDUCT OF ITS PROCEEDINGS UNDER THIS
SUBTITLE.
