(2) PARDON; OR

(3) REMISSION OF SENTENCE.
(C) VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT.

(1) IF THE INMATE WAS CONVICTED OF A VIOLENT CRIME, THE VICTIM
MAY SUBMIT TO THE COMMISSION A VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT AND
RECOMMENDATION.

(2) THE COMMISSION SHALL MAKE THE VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT
AND RECOMMENDATION AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW BY THE INMATE OR THE INMATE'S
REPRESENTATIVE SUBJECT TO § 7-303(B) OF THIS TITLE.

(D) CONSIDERATION BY COMMISSION.

IF A VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT OR RECOMMENDATION IS SUBMITTED UNDER
THIS SECTION, THE COMMISSION SHALL CONSIDER THE VICTIM IMPACT STATEMENT
OR RECOMMENDATION.

(E) MEETING WITH COMMISSIONER

A VICTIM MAY REQUEST A MEETING WITH A COMMISSIONER

(F) NOTIFICATION OF COMMISSION DECISION.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL NOTIFY PROMPTLY THE VICTIM OR THE VICTIM'S
DESIGNATED REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COMMISSION'S DECISION.

(G) DESIGNATION OF VICTIM'S REPRESENTATIVE.

THE VICTIM MAY DESIGNATE IN WRITING TO THE DEPARTMENT THE NAME AND
ADDRESS OF A REPRESENTATIVE TO RECEIVE NOTICE FOR THE VICTIM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 41, § 4-511A.

In subsection (a) of this section, the reference to an "individual" is
substituted for the former reference to a "person" because only a human
being, and not the other entities included in the defined term "person", can
suffer personal physical injury, or death.

The Correctional Services Article Review Committee notes, for
consideration by the General Assembly, that the meaning of the reference
to a "request... for notification" in the introductory language of subsection
(b) of this section is unclear. The Committee is uncertain as to whether this
means a generic "request for notification" or a specific "request for
notification of consideration for commutation, pardon, or remission of
sentence". The General Assembly may wish to clarify this issue. For a more
detailed discussion of this issue, see § 7-801(b)(l)(ii) of this subtitle and
accompanying Revisor's Note.
