REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 41, § 4-1105.

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to "residents of the State" is
substituted for the former reference to "citizens" for clarity because the
meaning of the term "citizen" is unclear. See General Revisor's Note to this
article.

Defined terms: "Division" § 6-101
"Parolee" § 6-101

GENERAL REVISOR'S NOTE TO SUBTITLE:

Former Art. 41, § 4-105(b), which provided for the reorganization of the former
Department of Parole and Probation as the Division of Parole and Probation effective
July 1, 1970, is apparently obsolete. However, to avoid any inadvertent substantive
effect its repeal might have, it is transferred to the Session Laws.

The part of former Art. 41, § 4-610 that required the State's Attorneys to make
and transmit to the Division of Parole and Probation and the Division of Correction a
resume of facts and evidence for certain types of cases is revised in Art. 10, § 40A.

Former Art. 41, § 4-613, which provided for the severability of the provisions of
former Art. 41, §§ 4-601 through 4-613, is deleted as unnecessary in light of Art. 1, §
23 of the Code.

SUBTITLE 2. UNIFORM ACT FOR OUT-OF-STATE PAROLEE SUPERVISION.
6-201. PREAMBLE.

THE GOVERNOR OF THIS STATE IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED TO
EXECUTE A COMPACT ON BEHALF OF THIS STATE WITH ANY OF THE UNITED STATES
LEGALLY JOINING IN THE COMPACT IN THE FORM SUBSTANTIALLY AS FOLLOWS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from the first unnumbered paragraph of the introductory language
of former Art. 41, § 4-801.

As to the general policy of the Correctional Services Article Review
Committee concerning changes to interstate compacts, see General
Revisor's Note to this subtitle.

6-202. CONSENT OF CONGRESS.

A COMPACT ENTERED INTO BY AND AMONG THE CONTRACTING STATES,
SIGNATORIES HERETO, WITH THE CONSENT OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA, GRANTED BY AN ACT ENTITLED "AN ACT GRANTING THE
CONSENT OF CONGRESS TO ANY TWO OR MORE STATES TO ENTER INTO
AGREEMENTS OR COMPACTS FOR COOPERATIVE EFFORT AND MUTUAL ASSISTANCE
IN THE PREVENTION OF CRIME AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES".

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly was the second - unnumbered
paragraph of the introductory language of Art. 41, § 4-801.
