Pursuant to the provisions of Section 23-11 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland, the State Administrative Board of Election Laws does hereby certify
that at the General Election held in Caroline County on November 3, 1998, an Act
known as Chapter 717 the Acts of 1998 (House Bill 884) as submitted to the voters of
Caroline County in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 717 of the Acts of 1998,
said Act being as follows:
AN ACT concerning
Caroline County - Number of County Commissioners - Straw Ballot
FOR the purpose of requiring that a question be placed on the ballot in Caroline
County at the November general election of 1998 to determine the sense of the
voters of the county on the issue of increasing the size of the Board of County
Commissioners from three members to five members, to be elected by the voters
of the County at large from residence districts; providing for the carrying out of
the straw ballot; and generally relating to the holding of a straw ballot in
Caroline County.
And it is hereby certified that at said election, 3,570 votes were cast for the
adoption of said Chapter 717 and 2,577 votes were cast against the adoption of said
Chapter 717, the said Chapter 717 of the Acts of 1998 has therefore been ratified.
