REPEALING AND RE-ENACTING SAME; TO DELETE AND REPEAL THE
PROVISIONS REQUIRING COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND CONTRACTS FOR
CERTAIN PURCHASES AND CONTRACTS; TO AUTHORIZE THE COUNCIL TO
MAKE PURCHASES AND TO ENTER INTO CONTRACTS THROUGH
NEGOTIATION.

Resolution No. 98-02
to Amend the Charter of the City of New Carrollton

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of New Carrollton, Prince
George's County, State of Maryland, have determined that a substantive
amendment and revision to the Charter of the City of New Carrollton is
desired; and

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that there is no provision in the City
Charter addressing the question as to who should preside during
meetings of the Council in the event that both the Chairman and Vice
Chairman are absent; and

WHEREAS, amending the Charter will correct this situation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Mayor and City Council of the City
of New Carrollton, Maryland, adopt the following provision.
