Chapter 395 of the Acts of 1998
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Department of
Natural Resources shall conduct a study of the impacts of bank traps and channel
pounds on aquatic animals, including crabs, fish, turtles, birds, and mammals. The
Department shall include in its study whether mitigating measures are available to
prevent adverse impacts upon aquatic animals. The study shall also consider the
effectiveness and enforcement of current bank trap regulations. The study shall
continue over a 1-year period, and upon completion of this report, and no later than
December 1, 1999, the Department shall report its findings to the House
Environmental Matters Committee and the Senate Economic AND ENVIRONMENTAL
Affairs Committee. In its report, the Department shall make recommendations as to
whether the prohibition on the use of bank traps and channel pounds in St. Mary's
County should be repealed by the General Assembly.

[SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 15-101(p)
through (y), 15-109(p) through (y), and 15-112(p) through (y), respectively, of Article
2B - Alcoholic Beverages of the Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to be
Section(s) 15-101(o) through (x), 15-109(o) through (x), and 15-112(o) through (x),
respectively.]

Chapter 713 of the Acts of 1998
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1998. [It] ARTICLE 29, § 18-108, AS ENACTED BY SECTION 1 OF THIS ACT,
shall remain effective for a period of 18 months and, at the end of December 31, 1999,
with no further action required by the General Assembly, [this Act] § 18-108 shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect.

Acts of 1998, to clarify that only the provisions relating to the Task Force
