(1998 Replacement Volume and 1998 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 10 - Legal Officials

40.

(c) In Anne Arundel County:

(5) (I) [The] SUBJECT TO SUBPARAGRAPH (II) OF THIS PARAGRAPH,
THE deputy State's Attorneys and the assistant State's Attorneys shall be precluded
from the private practice of criminal law and, with the exception of one assistant,
shall serve full time.

(II) IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY CODE,
THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY DESIGNATE TWO OR MORE ASSISTANT STATE'S
ATTORNEYS TO SHARE ONE OR MORE FULL-TIME POSITIONS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October June 1, 1999.

(House Bill 1038)

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program - Exemptions - Disabled Individuals

and Seniors

FOR the purpose of providing that a motor vehicle for which a special disabled
person's registration number and special registration plates have been issued is
exempt from the mandatory inspection and testing requirements of the vehicle
emissions inspection program if the owners of the vehicle meet certain disability
requirements, the vehicle is driven less than a certain number of miles over
certain periods, and the exemption is not prohibited by federal law; providing
that a motor vehicle owned by certain individuals of a certain age is exempt from
the mandatory inspection and testing requirements of the vehicle emissions
inspection program if the vehicle is driven less than a certain number of miles
over certain periods, and the exemption is not prohibited under federal law;
specifying application procedures; authorizing the Motor Vehicle Administrator
to adopt regulations to administer or enforce the provisions of the exemption;
and generally relating to the exemption of motor vehicles for which a special
disabled person's registration number and special registration plates have been
issued and to the exemption of motor vehicles owned by certain individuals of a
certain age
from the mandatory inspection and testing requirements of the
vehicle emissions inspection program.
