CRITERIA COMMITTEE, AND ANOTHER MEMBER TO SERVE ON AN INTERVIEW
COMMITTEE PARTICIPATE IN THE SEARCH PROCESS TO ENSURE THAT
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AUDIT RECOMMENDATIONS IS A KEY CRITERION IN THE
SELECTION OF A NEW SUPERINTENDENT.
(III) PRIOR TO BOARD OF EDUCATION APPROVAL OF SELECTION
CRITERIA TO BE USED IN EVALUATION OF CANDIDATES FOR SUPERINTENDENT, THE
MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT PANEL SHALL RECEIVE A COPY OF THE PROPOSED
CRITERIA AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD REGARDING HOW THE
AUDIT RECOMMENDATIONS ARE ADDRESSED IN THE CRITERIA AND HOW
PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES SHOULD BE EVALUATED ON THIS ISSUE.
(IV) THE MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT PANEL SHALL PROVIDE A
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE OF THE PANEL AND THE STATUS OF THE AUDIT
RECOMMENDATIONS, WHICH SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE MATERIALS PROVIDED TO
PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES FOR SUPERINTENDENT.
(V) THE MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT PANEL AND THE BOARD OF
EDUCATION SHALL JOINTLY BRIEF THE FINAL CANDIDATES FOR SUPERINTENDENT
ON THE ROLE OF THE MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT PANEL AND THE AUDIT
RECOMMENDATIONS AFTER THE BOARD SELECTS THE FINAL CANDIDATES AND
PRIOR TO THE BOARD SELECTING A NEW SUPERINTENDENT.

(k) (1) The county superintendent shall:
[(1)] (I) Take the initiative in the preparation and presentation of the
annual school budget; and
[(2)] (II) Seek in every way to secure adequate funds from local
authorities for the support and development of the public schools in the county.
(2) IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, THE COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT ALSO
SHALL:
(I) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN § 5-206(G)(4) OF THIS ARTICLE,
INCORPORATE THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PERFORMANCE AUDIT AS
ESTABLISHED BY § 5-296(C) OF THIS ARTICLE INTO THE ANNUAL SCHOOL BUDGET
SUBMITTED TO THE COUNTY BOARD; AND
(II) SUBMIT THE PROPOSED ANNUAL SCHOOL BUDGET TO THE
MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT PANEL FOR ITS COMMENTS PRIOR TO CONCURRENT
WITH SUBMITTING THE BUDGET TO THE COUNTY BOARD. BOARD; AND
(II) SUBMIT SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION RELATING TO
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EXPENDITURES BY STATE REPORTING CATEGORIES.
