2. Any additional or increased benefit does not apply to the
incumbent Sheriff, but shall take effect at the beginning of the next following term of
office.
(6) (i) With the exception of the assistant sheriffs, all commissioned
full-time employees, including deputy sheriffs of all ranks, that are provided for by
the Sheriff in the budget of the County, shall be subject to the County personnel law.
(ii) The assistant sheriffs shall receive an annual salary of
[$60,320] $77,500 AND AN ANNUAL COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT AS DETERMINED
BY THE SHERIFF BUT NOT EXCEEDING $2,000 PER YEAR $62,130.
(8) The Sheriff and the Sheriff's deputies shall be limited in their duties
as law enforcement officers, as follows:
(iv) The transportation of all legally detained persons, INCLUDING
MAINTAINING CUSTODY OF ALL PRISONERS IN ROUTE TO AND FROM AND DURING
APPEARANCES IN THE CIRCUIT COURT AND DISTRICT COURT;
(9) THE STATE SHALL REIMBURSE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY FOR THE
COST OF SERVICES PERFORMED BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
SHERIFF RELATING TO THE SECURITY OF THE DISTRICT COURT IN THE COUNTY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1999.

FOR the purpose of altering the composition of the Prince George's County Board of
Education; establishing procedures for requiring members of the management
oversight panel to participate in a certain manner in the selection of a new
School Superintendent; providing for the establishment of an audit office for
certain purposes with certain funding; requiring the School Superintendent to
incorporate the consider and incorporate certain recommendations of the
performance audit into the annual school budget, subject to a certain exception;
requiring the School Superintendent to submit the budget to the Management
Oversight Panel for comment at a certain time; requiring the Board of
Education School Superintendent to provide certain information in a certain
manner to the County Executive and County Council with the annual budget;
