Annotated Code of Maryland

(1997 Replacement Volume and 1998 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 29 - Washington Suburban Sanitary District

18-106.

(a) (1) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, the WSSC, under
rules or regulations adopted by the WSSC, may pay for actual property damage
caused by:

(I) [a] A sanitary sewer backup occurring on or after July 1, 1979;

OR

(II) A WATER MAIN BREAK OCCURRING ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1,

1999.

(2) Payments made under this section are not an admission of liability.

(b) The WSSC may not pay for actual property damage caused by a sanitary
sewer backup OR WATER MAIN BREAK if the sanitary sewer backup, THE WATER MAIN
BREAK, or the resulting damage FROM THE BACKUP OR BREAK was caused by an
intentional act or negligence of the owner or tenant of the property.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1999.

Drivers' Schools - Increase of Surety Bond

FOR the purpose of increasing the amount of the surety bond required by the Motor
Vehicle Administration for drivers' schools; and generally relating to the
requirements of surety bonds for drivers' schools.
