(J-1) NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROVISIONS OF SUBSECTION (J) OF THIS
SECTION, WHEN A SEMITRAILER IS BEING OPERATED IN COMBINATION WITH A
POWER UNIT THAT IS EQUIPPED WITH A DROMEDARY BOX BEING USED TO
TRANSPORT EXPLOSIVES AND MUNITIONS CLASSIFIED UNDER 49 C.F.R. PART 173.50
THAT ARE INTENDED FOR USE BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE,
THE COMBINATION OF VEHICLES IS NOT SUBJECT TO AN OVERALL LENGTH LIMIT,
BUT THE SEMITRAILER MAY NOT EXCEED 48 FEET IN LENGTH.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1999.

AN ACT concerning

Family Day Care Homes - Inspections

FOR the purpose of adding a requirement that regulations relating to family day care
providers and homes provide for unannounced inspections by the Department of
Human Resources; making stylistic changes; and generally relating to the
inspection of family day care providers and homes.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 5-551(c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1999 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Family Law

5-551.

(c) At a minimum, the rules and regulations shall provide for:

(1) minimum standards of environmental health and safety, including
provisions for:

(i) adequate and safe physical surroundings;

(ii) the physical and mental health of day care providers; and
(iii) investigation of any criminal record of a day care provider;
