SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Chapter 442 of the Acts of 1987, as amended by Chapter 316 of the Acts of
1989, Chapter 542 of the Acts of 1991, Chapter 40 of the Acts of 1993, and
Chapter 292 of the Acts of 1995
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1987. The changes made to Article 101, Sec. 66(2)(a)(ii) of the Code as enacted
by Section 1 of this Act, AND [codified] RECODIFIED as § 9-806(a) of the Labor and
Employment Article by Chapter 8 of the Acts of 1991, shall remain effective for a
period of [12] 16 years and, at the end of June 30, [1999] 2003 [; and] with no further
action required by the General Assembly, the changes made to Article 101, Sec.
66(2)(a)(ii) of the Code under this Act, and [codified] RECODIFIED as § 9-806(a) of the
Labor and Employment Article by Chapter 8 of the Acts of 1991, shall be abrogated
and of no further force and effect.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1999.

Handgun Permits - Law Enforcement Exception
FOR the purpose of expanding the list of law enforcement officers exempt from
certain handgun permit requirements; and generally relating to law
enforcement officers and the wearing, carrying, or transporting of a handgun.
