SECTION 8. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 1 of this Act
shall remain effective for a period of 1 year and, at the end of June 30, 2000, with no
further action required by the General Assembly, Section 1 of this Act shall be of no
further force and effect.
SECTION 9. 7. 6. 7. 8. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, subject to the
contingency under Section 6 7 of this Act, Section 3 Sections 2 and 3 of this Act shall
take effect July 1, 2000.
SECTION 10. 8. 7. 8. 9. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections 1
and 3 through 8 of, subject to the contingency under Section 6 7 of this Act and except
as provided in Section 7 6 7 8 of this Act, this Act shall take effect July 1, 1999:

AN ACT concerning
State Police Retirement System - Benefits
FOR the purpose of altering the formula for computing the retirement allowance of
certain members of the State Police Retirement System; altering the years of
eligibility service required for a normal service retirement under the System;
altering the contribution rate for certain members in the System; establishing a
Deferred Retirement Option Program for certain members' in the System;
providing for certain annual adjustments to the service retirement allowances of
certain service and disability retirees of the System or beneficiaries of service
and disability retirees as of a certain date; providing for the adjustment to be
subject to certain cost-of-living adjustments each fiscal year; requiring the
State Retirement Agency to request a private letter ruling from the Internal
Revenue Service that makes certain confirmations; making certain provisions of
this Act contingent on receipt of a certain ruling from the Internal Revenue
Service; defining certain terms; and generally relating to retirement benefits
under the State Police Retirement System.
