MEDICAL CARE PROGRAMS ADMINISTRATION

The Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene and the Office of Legislative
Audits shall each develop a report
assessing the advantages and
disadvantages of competitively procuring
Medicaid managed care services. Both
reports shall outline how the State could
go about implementing a system of
competitive bidding. The agencies shall
submit their reports to the budget
committees, the Senate Finance
Committee, and the House
Environmental Matters Committee by
August 15, 1999.

MQ01.02 Medical Care Operations
Administration

General Fund Appropriation, provided that
$99,000 of this appropriation may only be
expended to hire contractual staff to assist
in processing a backlog of paper claims
produced by an increase in submissions
from providers with computer systems
which are not Year 2000 compliant
