Article - Education

14-102.

(a) The government of Morgan State University is vested in the Board of
Regents of Morgan State University.

(b) The Board of Regents consists of 13 15 members appointed by the Governor
with the advice and consent of the Senate.

(c) (1) [Each member of the Board shall be a resident of this State.

(2)] One member OF THE BOARD shall be a student in good academic
standing at the University who:

(i) Is at least 18 years old; and

(ii) Has the qualifications required to be student body president.

(2) EXCEPT FOR THE STUDENT MEMBER, AT LEAST 9 11 MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD SHALL BE RESIDENTS OF THE STATE.

(d) (1) Except for the student member, each member serves for a term of 6
years and until a successor is appointed and qualifies. The terms are staggered as
required by the terms of the members serving on July 1, 1978.

(2) The student member serves for a term of 1 year and until a successor
is appointed and qualifies.

(3) A member appointed to fill a vacancy in an unexpired term serves
only for the remainder of that term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(e) Each member of the Board:

(1) Serves without compensation; and

(2) Is entitled to reimbursement for expenses in accordance with the
Standard State Travel Regulations.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October 1, 1999.
