budget submitted to the General Assembly
for Fiscal Year 1998. not less than
$2,000,000 of funds appropriated to the
Information Technology Investment Fund
shall be used for State information
technology projects to modify existing
mission critical computer systems to assure
that those systems are functional for
transactions or processes involving dates
beyond December 31, 1999. Provided,
however, that funds hereby restricted may
be used for other information technology
projects if the Secretary of Budget and
Management determines that adequate
resources are available to address the "Year
2000" problem in other areas of the budget.
Further provided that up to $150,000 of the
general funds appropriated to the
Information Technology Investment Fund
may be transferred for expenses related to
participation in the 1998 World Congress
on Information Technology.

Technical Assistance
General Fund Appropriation, provided that it
is the intent of the General Assembly that the
Maryland Information Technology Center
(MITC) merge with the Suburban Maryland
High-Tech Council........................................
FA04.03 Division of Financial Management
Information Systems
General Fund Appropriation, provided that
$3.350.000 of this appropriation for the
Financial Management Information System
(FMIS) may not be expended until the
department has provided the budget
committees with a detailed explanation.
