the complete title of the Committee throughout this subtitle.

9-1702. COMMITTEE ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A COMMITTEE ON BONDING OF STATE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES,
KNOWN AS THE MARYLAND STATE EMPLOYEES SURETY BOND COMMITTEE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from the second sentence and the first clause of the first sentence of
former Art. 78A, § 46.

9-1703. MEMBERSHIP.

THE COMMITTEE CONSISTS OF THE STATE TREASURER, THE STATE
COMPTROLLER, AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OR THEIR DESIGNATED
REPRESENTATIVES.

change from the first sentence of former Art. 78A, § 46.

9-1704. AUTHORITY TO SET TYPE AND AMOUNTS OF REQUIRED BONDS.

(A) AUTHORITY.

THE COMMITTEE MAY PERIODICALLY SET THE TYPE AND AMOUNT OF THE
BONDS OF EACH STATE OFFICER AND EMPLOYEE WHO IS REQUIRED TO BE BONDED
IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANY LAW OF THE STATE, HAVING DUE REGARD FOR THE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE.

(B) COMMENCEMENT OF COVERAGE.

AN OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE WHO IS REQUIRED TO BE BONDED SHALL BE
COVERED, ON ENTERING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE OFFICER'S OR EMPLOYEE'S
DUTIES, BY A SURETY BOND OF THE TYPE SPECIFIED AND IN THE AMOUNT AND
TERM FIXED BY THE COMMITTEE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 78A, § 47.

In subsection (a) of this section, the word "may" is substituted for the former
phrase "shall have the power" to conform to the style of the revised articles of
the Code.

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to an officer or employee "who
is required to be bonded" is substituted for the former reference to "said
officers or employees" for clarity.

9-1705. DISCRETIONARY BONDING.

EACH STATE OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFICALLY
REQUIRED TO BE BONDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANY LAW OF THE STATE, WHO IN
