(Senate Bill 783)
AN ACT concerning
Code Revision - Miscellaneous Provisions
FOR the purpose of revising, without substantive changes, certain provisions of the
Annotated Code in order to effectuate the purposes of the Code Revision process;
revising, without substantive change, provisions relating to: stray domestic animals,
survey stations, products made by the blind, disposition of property of charitable or
religious institutions, certain duties of the clerks of court, specific enforcement of
contracts, the Maryland Uniform Contribution Among Joint Tort-Feasors Act,
release or settlement of claims by injured individuals, the statute of frauds, actions
by creditors of persons using a trade name, federal findings of presumption of death
or missing in action, suits on negotiable instruments, suits against joint debtors,
execution of deeds, noise control by State agencies, oaths of public officers, fees for
copies of vital records, interpreters at certain hearings, the Maryland Coordinate
System, registers of wills, general powers of agency heads, members of boards and
commissions, the Office of the State Prosecutor, the Maryland State Employees
Surety Bond Committee, the Assisted Living Programs Board, the Maryland Energy
Administration, the Community Energy Loan Program, compliance with Workers'
Compensation Law, accounts by public officers, notaries public and notarial acts,
the Maryland Uniform Acknowledgments Act, validation of prior acknowledgments,
death benefits for survivors of State employees, and debts owed to the State;
repealing certain obsolete or redundant provisions; repealing obsolete or
duplicative provisions relating to: agents and factors, bills of exchange and
promissory notes, certain legal actions in equity, claims against the United States
existing prior to 1898, condemnation by certain corporations, stray vessels and logs,
public meetings of State agencies, political activities by State employees, emergency
authority for the savings and loan crisis, the granting of nolle prosequi by the
Governor, the comprehensive energy assistance and information plan, joint
obligations, regulation of motion pictures, receipts, releases and final discharges,
sureties, daylight savings time, and recognition of federal coins; transferring to the
Session Laws certain possibly obsolete provisions relating to: a bridge across
Spesutie Narrows, the continuation of certain Executive Branch regulations, and
suits on instruments; specifying that this Act may not be deemed to constitute a
substantive change in the law; and generally relating to the formal revision of the
Annotated Code of Maryland.
