Chapter 329 of the Acts of 1996

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Harford County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Harford County shall take effect [at the beginning of the
next following term of office] DECEMBER 1, 1998.

Chapter 353 of the Acts of 1996

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(2) Except as provided in paragraph (3) of this section of this Act, the
positions eliminated in accordance with paragraph (1) of this section shall result in a total
reduction in salaries and fringe benefits [;] that is equal to at least 60% of the total
salaries and fringe benefits [;] of the positions vacated by members retiring on October 1,
1996 under this Act and in accordance with paragraph (5) of Section 2 of this Act and
Sections 8 and 9 of this Act;

Chapter 379 of the Acts of 1996

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(c) any excess credits may be carried forward and, subject to the limitations
of [Article 48A] ARTICLE 88A, § 56 of the Code, may be applied as a credit for taxable
years beginning on or after January 1, 2002.
