PARRIS N. GLENDENING, Governor H.B. 1188
FOR the purpose of requiring that money from uncashed pari-mutuel tickets that are
from bets made into mutuel pools of mile thoroughbred licensees be paid to the
Maryland Million, Ltd., as a grant to support and promote the running of Maryland
Million races; requiring that this Act apply to all payments mode by a licensee of
money from uncashed pari-mutuel tickets purchased on or after July 1, 1997;
requiring certain money to be paid to a special fund to he used only for certain activities
directly related to the running of Maryland Million races; requiring the Governor by
budgetary amendment to allocate money from the special fund, as a grant to the
Maryland Million, Ltd., for certain activities directly related to the running of Maryland
Million races; requiring the Office of Legislative Audits to audit licensees in accordance
with certain provisions of law; providing for the application of this Act; providing for the
termination of certain provisions of this Act; and generally relating to uncashed
pari-mutuel tickets.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article — Business Regulation
11-402.
The Special Fund consists of:
(1) the State share of daily licensee fees;
(2) pari-mutuel taxes;
(3) the impact aid under § 11-812 of this title;
(4) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN § 11-521 OF THIS TITLE, money from
uncashed pari-mutuel tickets that are from bets made into the betting pools of
nonharness licensees; and
(5) any permit fees under §§ 11-820 and 11-832 of this title.
11-521,
(A) $500,000 IN MONEY FROM UNCASHED PARI-MUTUEL TICKETS THAT ARE
