Ch. 14 1997 LAWS OF MARYLAND

13-316.

Subject to the hearing provisions of § 13-317 of this subtitle, the Board may deny a
license, temporary license, or restricted license to any applicant, reprimand any licensee
or holder of a temporary license or restricted license, place any licensee or holder of a
temporary license or restricted license on probation, or suspend or revoke a license,
temporary license, or restricted license if the applicant, licensee, or holder:

(19) Promotes the sale of devices, [appliances] APPLIANCES, or goods to a
patient so as to exploit the patient for financial gain;

(22) Is convicted [under] OF insurance fraud under Article 48A, § [233A]

17-101.

(k) "Practice alcohol and drug counseling" means to engage professionally and for
compensation in alcohol and drug counseling activities while representing oneself to be a
certified professional counselor-alcohol and drug, a certified supervised
counselor-alcohol and drug, or a certified [assistant] ASSOCIATE counselor-alcohol and
drug.

17-205.

(b) In addition to the duties set forth elsewhere in this title, the Board shall:
(1) Maintain a registry of all currently:

(i) Certified professional counselors;

(ii) Certified professional counselors-marriage and family therapists;

(iii) Certified professional counselors-alcohol and drug;

(iv) Certified associate counselors-alcohol and drug; and
