SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of Maryland
read as follows:

Article - Family Law

4-501.

(J) "RESIDENCE" INCLUDES THE CURTILAGE YARD, GROUNDS,
OUTBUILDINGS. AND COMMON AREAS SURROUNDING THE RESIDENCE.

4-506.

(b) (1) (I) The temporary ex parte order shall state the date and time of the
protective order hearing.

[(2)] (II) Unless continued for pood cause, the protective order hearing shall
be held no later than 7 days after the temporary ex parte order is served on the
respondent.

(2) THE TEMPORARY EX PARTE ORDER SHALL INCLUDE NOTICE TO
THE RESPONDENT:

(I) OF THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES OF FAILURE TO APPEAR AT
THE PROTECTIVE ORDER HEARING, INCLUDING SERVICE OF A PROTECTIVE

(I) IN AT LEAST 10-POINT BOLD TYPE, THAT IF THE RESPONDENT
FAILS TO APPEAR AT THE PROTECTIVE ORDER HEARING, THE RESPONDENT MAY BE
SERVED BY FIRST-CLASS MAIL AT THE RESPONDENT'S LAST KNOWN ADDRESS WITH
THE PROTECTIVE ORDER AND ALL OTHER NOTICES CONCERNING THE PROTECTIVE
ORDER;

(II) SPECIFYING ALL THE POSSIBLE FORMS OF RELIEF UNDER
SUBSECTION (D) OF THIS SECTION THAT THE PROTECTIVE ORDER MAY CONTAIN;

(III) THAT THE PROTECTIVE ORDER SHALL BE EFFECTIVE FOR THE
PERIOD STATED IN THE ORDER. NOT TO EXCEED 18 12 MONTHS, UNLESS THE COURT
EXTENDS THE TERM OF THE ORDER. UNDER § 4-507(A)(2) OF THIS SUBTITLE, AS TO
THE TYPES OF RELIEF DESCRIBED IN SUBSECTION (D)(1) THROUGH (7) OF THIS
SECTION
; ORDER BY FIRST CLASS MAIL: AND

(II) (IV) IN AT LEAST 10-POINT BOLD TYPE. THAT THE
RESPONDENT MUST NOTIFY THE COURT IN WRITING OF ANY CHANGE OF ADDRESS.

(f) (1) A copy of the protective order shall be served on the petitioner, THE
RESPONDENT, any affected person eligible for relief, the appropriate law enforcement
agency, and any other person the court determines is appropriate, in open court or, IF
THE PERSON IS NOT PRESENT AT THE PROTECTIVE ORDER HEARING, by first class
mail TO THE PERSON'S LAST KNOWN ADDRESS.

[(2) (i) A copy of the protective order shall be served on the respondent in
open court or by a law enforcement officer, constable, or sheriff.

(ii) A copy of the protective order shall also be sent to the last known
address of the respondent by first class mail.
