AN ACT concerning

Property Tax - Tax Sales - De Minimis Tax

FOR the purpose of altering a provision allowing a property tax collector to withhold
property from tax sale when the total taxes on the property amount to less than a
certain amount.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Tax - Property

14-811.

The collector may withhold from sale any property, when the total taxes on the
property, including interest and penalties, amount to less than [$15] $100 in any 1 year.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1997.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed House Bill 440.

This departmental bill transfers the authority of the Board of Physician Quality
Assurance (BPQA) to certify and oversee advanced life support emergency medical
services providers to the State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Board and makes
certain other changes.

Senate Bill 764, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on April 29,
1997, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 440.
