May 22, 1997

The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 559.

This bill reduces the number of live racing days required for Ocean Downs to qualify as

a receiving track for intertrack betting purposes from 65 to 40.

House Bill 225, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on this date,

accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill
559.

Sincerely,
